So, you chilled the champagne, put on your best cologne, spread out the bearskin rug... but the dang fireplace won't light! Believe me, getting worked up about it will only make it harder to succeed, similar to the main goal of the evening. There are many integrated parts and they are designed NOT to work unless you do everything right. (That sounds familar too!) The main problem is not being able to see what you are doing. (Oh my, this is too much, OK log set, we're only talking about the log set, my Precious!) One trick is to remove the logs so you can see when the pilot light takes. But take a picture of the logs first before you dismantle them. This video is very helpful.
