Paint everything, add curb appeal (landscaping), fix obvious problems, refinish wood floors, use a stager, but don't spend lots of money on other upgrades. I would add: have a professional home inspection so you know what you might get dinged on and/or increase your confidence on the quality of your home. For example, mold problems scare most buyers away, and you probably haven't spent much time in the attic or crawlspace recently...
Also, replace the furnace filter, clean your grease filters over the stove (just put them in the dishwasher) and turn the HVAC fan to "On" during showings.
